Via Portuense 471

The Kitchen
The Fridge
The piccolo bathroom
The bedroom
The closet
Living/Dining room
TV
Audrey and the couch
The French doors that open up to the terrace
Casey chillin' on the terrace one night after dinner.
View from the terrace. Not the greatest ever, but hey- at least we have a bus stop right outside our apartment!
I couldn't finish this post with the previous picture, so I decided to throw in a photo of the dinner the night we took these pictures. Amatricana- its one of Rome's signature dishes made with tomatoes, chilis, onion, garlic, cheese, and guanciale (which is basically bacon). Oh- and pasta of course. It has quickly become one of our favorite dishes since we have been here!

A Saturday in Florence

San Lorenzo Market, otherwise known as the leather market, where I purchased 5 purses and 2 wallets in a 20 min period.
the Duomo
The Facade
On our way to the Archaeology Museum, we turned around, and this is what we saw!
Ponte Vecchio
again
From Piazza Michelangelo. The Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, and the Duomo all in one photo. I must say, the Duomo totally dwarfs everything else around it. Thanks Casey!
Casey and I at the lookout. Pretty Florence!

Più...

hello all. Here are more pictures...

Oh Please, go ahead and park in the middle of the street/intersection!

piazza near our house that has 2 ATMs and a shop where they make fresh bread everyday!

a lovely Amitriciana dinner at Via Portuense 471 Roma

I mean, could they have parked any closer to one another?
this is a fontanella... they are throughout the city. It is perfectly good drinking water, and we use them to get a sip of water or fill up our water bottle. Sometimes they will have an additional spout on the top where you can plug the main faucet, and it will come out the top just like a water fountain in the US- brilliant! And they are always running. There is one along our bus route, one in our neighborhood, and several in the center that we have been using ;)
Piazza del Popolo. So cool that these churches are mirror images of each other! The street in the middle is Via del Corso where Casey bought a pair of Tom Fords. This street also takes you to the capital government building (the wedding Cake as Italians call it).

A first glance

Hopefully most of you have heard by now, but Casey and I are having major issues uploading our videos to this blog, so for now, we are just going to be posting our pictures. This is what we have seen and done since we have been here... Will be posting pics of the apartment a bit later this week!

cool large, round fountain near Piazza Navona

bahaha. Seagull on Bernini's Fountain of the Moor in Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona. You are looking at Bernini's famous Baroque Fountain of the Four Rivers, sculpted after the world's "greatest" rivers (Ganges, Nile, della Plata, and Danube). In the center is an Egyptian obelisk.
Pantheon, about 6:30 at night. Look at all the people!
The inside of the Pantheon's dome.
The first and last Ferrari we have seen! It was about a block away from the Trevi Fountain.
Trevi Fountain
Hoards of people viewing the Trevi.
Thousands of people as far as the eye can see. The beach outside of Rome is really cool. It is called Lido di Ostia, and you can pay to go to one of the private beaches, where the bring you a nice lounge chair. It was totally worth it because this photo was taken in the direction of the free, public beach, and as you can see it is crowded beyond belief... and they did not offer the amazing lounge chairs!
Our private section of the beach. See the chairs with the cabana/ sun guards? We are planning on going back in another week or so on a week day to see if it is any less crowded!
Beach vendors are everywhere... selling coconut, drinks, swimsuits, towels, watches & jewelry, knockoff sunglasses & purses, corn-on-the-cob. I bought my sarong from this guy!
